HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the killing of a man whose dismembered body was found discarded in different bags.

Thirty-eight-year-old Wilfredo Sanchez of Cliffside Park was sentenced Tuesday in state Superior Court in Hackensack.

He was convicted of murder and other charges in December in the killing of 46-year-old restaurant worker Francisco Gonzalez Fuentes.

Sanchez’s attorney tells The Record (https://bit.ly/1nCWpAK ) they planned to appeal based on the claim that Sanchez helped dismember Fuentes but did not commit murder.

A second man, Pedro Garcia, was also convicted in Fuentes’s murder and is awaiting sentencing.

Prosecutors say Garcia enlisted Sanchez’s help in the murder after Garcia had become enraged at Fuentes for telling guests at a party that Garcia was his boyfriend.
