BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) - The Bellevue City Council has approved issuing $6.9 million in bonds for a planned conference center.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1pKDWGI ) the bonds approved by the council Monday night will be combined with a $1.1 million grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

The money will go toward the planned conference center, which will have offer seating for up to 1,000 people in a main ballroom.

Developer Kinseth Hospitality Group, based in North Liberty, Iowa, will pay for an adjacent 124-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Kinseth also would manage the conference center.

Mayor Rita Sanders says the Omaha suburb needs a venue for large weddings and conferences because such events now are being held in other communities.
