OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - Officials in Ottumwa plan to reduce the number of Canada geese in city parks.

The Ottumwa Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1iCTADs ) city officials asked the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to remove some of the geese after getting complaints about bird droppings.

A roundup of geese will take place later this week at Ottumwa Park.

Goslings will be taken to a wildlife area and adult geese will be taken to a location in southwest Iowa

City Administrator Joe Helfenberger says it’s possible some of the adult male geese could fly back to Ottumwa.
