PITTSBURGH (AP) - Proposed legislation in Pennsylvania would require Marcellus Shale natural gas drillers to report production details every month, instead of twice a year.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1pezMZU ) reports Tuesday that House Bill 2278 was introduced by state Rep. Tina Pickett, a Towanda Republican.

Experts say landowners and the business community could benefit from more timely data. Many other major oil and gas producing states, such as Texas and Oklahoma, already require monthly reports.

The Marcellus Shale Coalition, an industry group, says it is still reviewing the proposed legislation.
