LAREDO, Texas (AP) - A South Texas resident faces federal drug charges after agents at a Laredo border crossing found $2 million worth of methamphetamine hidden in car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Monday said the bust happened at the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge.

Authorities on Saturday examined a northbound vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Laredo resident. A secondary examination turned up 25 packages with nearly 65 pounds of a substance identified as methamphetamine.

The driver was detained. Officials did not immediately release the suspect’s name or further details on charges.
