PLANO, Texas (AP) - A security contractor has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud a suburban North Texas school district out of millions of dollars.

A U.S. Attorney’s statement issued Tuesday says Carol Ann LaRue has pleaded guilty to one conspiracy count.

LaRue owns and operates a fire control and security contractor. Court documents show that she conspired with a Plano Independent School District employee Kris Wilson Gentz to submit fraudulent invoices from May 2011 to last December and split the proceeds.

The scheme defrauded the district out of an amount not exceeding $7 million, of which LaRue was responsible for a lot not exceeding $2.5 million.

Gentz pleaded guilty to the same conspiracy charge on April 1. Both could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. No sentencing date is set.
