SAN SIMEON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an abandoned panga boat found on a Central Coast beach was possibly used to carry people and drugs

The San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s office says the empty boat was discovered Thursday on the shores near San Simeon, California, more than 350 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Authorities say the approximately 30-foot-long boat was ashore for 18 to 24 hours.

Inside the boat, deputies found clothes and fuel. No drugs were recovered from the boat, but investigators say evidence indicates the boat may have carried narcotics.

The boat was found about 10 miles north of Hearst Castle, the coastal mansion built by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst.
