DENVER (AP) - A jury has convicted a 29-year-old Denver man in a shooting that wounded his ex-fiancee as she was driving on an Interstate 25 off-ramp last year.

The jury found Christopher Lyle Fields guilty Thursday of charges that included attempted first-degree murder, retaliation against a witness or victim, stalking and harassment.

Authorities say Fields stepped in front of the victim’s car as she was driving on an I-25 exit ramp during morning rush hour on Jan. 9, 2009. He fired one round through the windshield and left on a motorcycle.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1ySZeGz ) the bullet fragmented and badly wounded the victim.

Fields was later arrested in New Mexico. He had cut off a GPS ankle monitor he was ordered to wear in a stalking case against the victim.
