RAYVILLE, La. (AP) - A 25-year-old Monroe man has been sentenced to 75 years with hard labor for the death of a Rayville man in December 2012.

District Attorney Mack Lancaster says Jesty Reese was sentenced on convictions of manslaughter and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The News-Star reports ( ) Reese and Cody Reynolds of Rayville were charged in the shooting death of Brandon Johnson on Dec. 16, 2012. Lancaster said Reese and Reynolds intended to rob Johnson at his Rayville residence. During the attempt, Reese shot Johnson twice in the abdomen and Johnson died a short time later.

Lancaster says Reynolds’ case is still pending.
