DALLAS (AP) - The San Antonio-based lead federal prosecutor for West Texas, a federal magistrate for East Texas and a patent and product liability lawyer from Texarkana, Texas, have been nominated to vacant U.S. district court seats in Texas.

President Barack Obama nominated U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman to a Western District court to succeed Royal Furgeson Jr., who retired. Pitman has been the top federal prosecutor for West Texas since 2011.

Also nominated were U.S. Magistrate Amos Mazzant of Sherman, who would succeed retired Judge T. John Ward, and Robert W. Schroeder III of Texarkana, who would succeed retired Judge David Folsom.

All of the nominations must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
