MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (AP) - A fireworks show on the South Carolina coast is causing some fireworks among area residents.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/1yU7WEn ) that every Monday night during the summer there is a show that can be seen from the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet.

The eight-minute free show attracts hundreds of viewers and is sponsored by a local merchants association. But some civic groups are complaining about the litter, noise and potential for environmental damage.

Mike Campbell with the Dead Dog Saloon says the fireworks have drawn customers to area businesses and restaurants.

Campbell says the company putting on the show cleans up any debris and the merchants group also sends a boat out every Tuesday morning to clean up any trash left behind in the marsh or water.
