ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 41-year-old man remains in critical condition two days after he was hit in the head by a float on a floatplane taking off from a southwest Alaska river.

KTUU-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1lwVXr3) Travis Finkenbinder on Wednesday was in an 18-foot skiff on the Mulchatna River.

The boat was working with deHavilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplanes and shuttling equipment between fishing camps.

When one plane took off, it experienced a downdraft. Troopers say the plane missed the boat but hit Finkenbinder in the head.

The pilot landed and saw the skiff turning in circles. The pilot stopped the boat, and with another pilot, took Finkenbinder to get medical attention.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident.
