SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) - Bicyclists and hikers have an opportunity Saturday to traverse the bridge linking the U.S. and Canada in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The 28th annual International Bridge Walk and Bicycle Parade is a goodwill gesture between cities on both sides of the border with the same name - Sault Ste. Marie.

The Evening News (https://bit.ly/1pWZ5xE ) reports that the event begins at Lake Superior State University in Michigan. Buses bring walkers from Ontario across the bridge to the university campus so everyone will be heading in the same direction.

The bicycle portion of the event starts at 8:30 a.m. Bikers ride across the bridge, then return.

The walk begins around 9 a.m. Participants cross to the Canadian side, where U.S. walkers catch a bus back to the starting point.
