DENVER (AP) - A man arrested and tied to a slaying after a woman kidnapped from a parking garage escaped from the truck of her car has been sentenced to life in prison.

Twenty-eight-year-old William Lornes was also sentenced Friday to an additional 102 years in prison for charges that include second-degree murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Lornes was convicted of first-degree murder earlier this year in the April 2011 death of 73-year-old Gerald Schwartzman, whose body was found in a Dumpster in Denver.

Lornes was also convicted in the kidnapping of a woman who managed to find the emergency release inside the trunk of her car and called police after she escaped.

Police arrested Lornes when officers spotted him after finding the woman’s abandoned car.
