DETROIT (AP) - More than 100 college scholarships will be awarded to high school graduates at the 32nd annual Metro Detroit Youth Day next month.

The event takes at Belle Isle’s athletic fields on July 9, starting with a morning scholarship award presentation and kick-off ceremony. The day includes games, contests and entertainment, as well as a free lunch for children between 8 and 15 years of age.

Ed Deeb, co-founder and chairman of Metro Detroit Youth Day and founder of the Michigan Food and Beverage Association, says in a statement the event is “all about inspiring our youth to lead us in the future.” Each year, more than $35,000 in college scholarships is awarded.
