WILMINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - Police and fire crews have resumed their search along an Adirondack river for a person who disappeared while swimming with a teenager who drowned.

State police say troopers, sheriff’s deputies, state forest rangers and volunteer firefighters resumed their search of the Ausable River in Essex County around 6 a.m. Friday.

Troopers say 17-year-old Taoufik Maknani (tah-FEEK’ mahk-NAH’-nee), a Plattsburgh High School senior, was swimming with a group Thursday afternoon at The Flume, a popular spot in Wilmington for cliff jumping and diving.

Officials he and another teen were swimming in an area with strong current from recent heavy rains. Maknani’s body was recovered.

Maknani, a popular two-sport star at Plattsburgh High, was set to graduate on Saturday.

Police haven’t released the other person’s name.

Wilmington is near Lake Placid, 110 miles north of Albany.
