PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A second man has been arraigned on charges of trafficking a 16-year-old girl for sex.

Marquis Joseph Melia is accused of conspiring with 58-year-old Curtis Maxie to sell the girl to men for sex out of a Pawtucket apartment.

Maxie, who also was charged with raping the girl, was ordered held without bond on Wednesday.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/ToGtK1 ) Melia’s bond was set Thursday at $10,000.

Police say he met the teen after she ran away from home and brought her to Maxie, who forced her to work as a prostitute and kept the money she made.

Police began investigating in April when the teen’s parents found her being offered online as an escort.
