SALEM, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey police say the family of a woman wanted in the videotaped beating of a mother in front of her child is asking her to turn herself in.

Police Chief John Pelura III said Friday that police have been in contact with the family of 25-year-old Latia Harris, and were told the family is pleading with Harris to surrender.

Police have been searching for Harris after the videotape surfaced of her allegedly pummeling the mother of a toddler in the face and kicking her in the back along a trail Tuesday in Salem. She allegedly is also heard threatening to attack the toddler.

Police obtained the video before it was removed from Facebook.
