PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Health officials in Rhode Island have reopened Oakland Beach in Warwick to swimming.

Authorities on Thursday closed Goddard Memorial State Park Beach, Conimicut Point Beach and Oakland Beach, all in Warwick, after detecting high bacteria levels during water samples.

The Rhode Island Department of Health on Saturday said it recommended reopening Oakland Beach after tests showed bacterial levels within acceptable limits.

On Friday, health officials recommended reopening Goddard Memorial State Park Beach. Conimicut Point Beach remains closed.

The state’s health department monitors water quality at beaches throughout the summer months to make sure the water does not contain high levels of bacteria.
