DENVER (AP) - Prosecutors say a man who was arrested in Texas on drug charges has been connected by DNA evidence to a 20-year-old sex assault case in Denver.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office says 56-year-old Donald R. Shores has been charged with felony aggravated sexual assault and a crime of violence. He is suspected of assaulting and raping a 67-year-old woman on Sept. 6, 1994.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1jZzJtc ) Shores, who was arrested in January and faces extradition to Colorado, is being held on $250,000 bail.

The alleged victim died of cancer in 2000.
