RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - Ham radio operators will be broadcasting for 24 hours this weekend in Rutland as part of the Green Mountain Wireless Society’s open house.

The event takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Rutland High School football field.

It’s part of yearly exercise to prepare for emergencies.

Ham radio operators will broadcast from the field announcer’s booth for 24 hours starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Organizers say they will contact stations in the area and around the world.

The Rutland Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1o6X941 ) that a special station will be set up for visitors to use.
