NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Housing Authority of New Orleans has selected Gregg Fortner as executive director.

Fortner has more than 20 years of experience in public housing. He currently is executive director of the Miami-Dade Public Housing and Community Development Department in Florida. In this role, he manages a $435 million annual budget and 9,000 federally and state-funded public housing units.

Fortner is expected to begin work in New Orleans on July 7.
