GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Students at Martin Community College have signed a petition urging the school’s board of trustees not to renew the president’s contract.

WNCT-TV in Greenville reports (https://bit.ly/1nRvgv4) more than 50 percent of the students at the Williamston school have signed the petition.

Student government president Brandy Jess says Ann Britt has consistently denied requests for student funding and made her own decisions about how student government money is spent instead of putting it to a vote.

When contacted, Britt said she couldn’t comment on the allegations until she spoke with her lawyer.

Board chairman Jackie Gillam says the State Auditor’s office is looking into the allegations.

North Carolina Community College President Scott Rolls said his office had received information regarding the allegations and commends the school for opening an inquiry.
