MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - A gunman who opened fire in the kitchen of a West Texas restaurant has been shot and killed by an off-duty police officer who was eating at the place.

Midland police say the suspect was fatally shot Friday night. Nobody else was hurt.

Police did not immediately release the suspect’s name or further details about why he walked into the Mexican restaurant and opened fire.

The name of the Midland officer was also not immediately released.

Police on Saturday did not immediately return a message.
