NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in Newark are investigating two separate and apparently unrelated shootings that left two people dead.

The first occurred at about 3:30 p.m. in the North Ward. Police responding to a call discovered 41-year-old Maria Cruz of Rockaway, New York, who died from her injuries early Sunday at University Hospital.

At approximately 11 p.m. Saturday in the West Ward, 33-year-old Raheem Hughes of East Orange was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police report no apparent motive or suspects.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
