LAS VEGAS (AP) - Fireworks fundraising booths opened throughout the Las Vegas this weekend, amid safety tips from firefighters urging caution to make Independence Day celebrations safe.

Clark County Fire Chief Bertral Washington warned that most fireworks-related injuries happen to children between ages 5 and 14.

While legal “safe-and-sane” fireworks went on sale Saturday, county fire inspector Amanda Wildermuth told the Las Vegas Review-Journal (https://bit.ly/1pCL6PR ) that possession and use of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor.

No fireworks of any kind are allowed on federal lands in the Lake Mead, Red Rock and Spring Mountains areas including Mount Charleston.

Parades and fireworks shows are scheduled at several places Friday, including Summerlin, Cashman Field, Craig Ranch Regional Park, Mission Hills Park and at the High Roller observation wheel and Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip.
