NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Fire officials say a 65-year-old man died in a house fire in Newark.

John Farrell, a spokesman for the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company, tells The News Journal of Wilmington (https://tinyurl.com/k8oq6xu ) that the fire broke out Saturday night in a home in the Windy Hills development.

Farrell says flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived. He says a firefighter who was in the area at the time the alarm sounded pulled the man from the home.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Farrell says one firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Newark police and the city fire marshal’s office are investigating the blaze.
