QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A Quincy company that has sold lawn and garden products for 134 years is closing.

Geo. Keller and Sons Co. officials say the business will close within the next month. The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (https://bit.ly/1sOXSfi ) that company officials cited a steady decline in business over the past several years.

Kris Keller said in a statement that it “wasn’t how we wanted it to end, but it could not be helped with the continuing challenges of today’s economy.” Keller called it “the end of an era.”

The store employs about 20 people.

George Keller, a wagon maker and black smith, founded the company in 1880 with J.P. Wenzel, who built farm wagons.
