WILMINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have located the body of a second teen that drowned while swimming in an Adirondack Mountain river.

The New York State Police said the body of 17-year-old Michael Lawson was found Sunday afternoon in the west branch of the Ausable River in Essex County, N.Y.

Troopers say Lawson was last seen Thursday while he was swimming with friends.

Seventeen-year-old Taoufik Maknani (tah-FEEK’ mahk-NAH’-nee) also drowned. His body was recovered Thursday.

The two teens were swimming with a group at The Flume, a popular spot in Wilmington for cliff jumping and diving.

Officials say recent heavy rains created strong currents in the area.

Both teens were students at Plattsburgh High School.

Wilmington is near Lake Placid, 110 miles north of Albany.
