ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Former Tennessee Tech assistant Brian Kloman has been added to Winthrop’s men’s basketball staff.

Coach Pat Kelsey announced the hire Monday. Kloman takes the assistant coach vacancy created when Brian Thornton left last month to take a similar position at Ball State.

Kelsey said he’s known Kloman for several years and has a great respect for his work ethic and ability to cultivate relationships.

Kloman spent the past two years at Tennessee Tech. He’s also coached at North Carolina Central, Pikeville College, Daniel Webster and Pfeiffer.

Kloman graduated from Tennessee in 2002. His father is Chris Ferguson, a longtime college coach who’s currently an Oklahoma State assistant under Travis Ford.
