READING, Pa. (AP) - A 2-year-old boy is being treated at a hospital after he was rescued from the swimming area of a large recreational lake outside Reading.

The Reading Eagle reported Monday (https://bit.ly/1pFrLxA ) that the unnamed child from Lebanon was found in an unresponsive state by his family at Blue Marsh Lake.

A nurse at the scene on Saturday evening began cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Officials tell the newspaper the boy wasn’t conscious or breathing when he left the park, but he has a pulse and is on a breathing machine at the hospital.

Police say family members were in the water at the time, but apparently there was miscommunication about who was watching him.

The swimming area has a beach but it isn’t covered by lifeguards.
