PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Russell County, Alabama say a 12-year-old boy has died in a motorcycle crash.

Deputy Coroner Lawman Davis tells WTVM-TV (https://bit.ly/VzDO25 ) Christopher Haywood died Friday afternoon after the crash in Phenix City, Alabama. Authorities say the boy appears to have died of blunt force head trauma.

Davis says the 34-year-old driver of the motorcycle was also hospitalized at the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. Authorities say the driver told investigators there was a problem with the motorcycle’s throttle.

Authorities say the crash is under investigation.
