NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Two Canadian boaters are safe after drifting into the danger zone in the Niagara River above the falls.

State Park Police Marine Patrol rescued the boaters shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday.

Park Police tell The Buffalo News (https://bit.ly/1x4btOz ) the boaters ran out of gas and were drifting without an anchor. Their emergency flares were spotted by people onshore, who called authorities.

The Marine Patrol towed the disabled craft to the American side and secured it.
