PITTSBURGH (AP) - A woman was in custody after Pittsburgh police say the car she was driving went off a road and hit the porches of at least two homes and a natural gas meter.

Four homes were evacuated as a precaution along Federal Street, a busy thoroughfare on the city’s North Side, a few blocks from downtown.

Police didn’t immediately release the driver’s name, or say why they believe she crashed into the homes about 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Equitable Gas crews were called out to fix the meter and city officials inspected the homes and deemed them safe to occupy.

No injuries were reported.

Police planned to charge the driver, but didn’t immediately detail the charges.
