CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Sen. Mike Enzi says he’s seeking public support for his so-called “Penny Plan” to reduce the deficit.

Enzi is running for a fourth term and is facing four challengers in the Republican primary Aug. 19.

Enzi introduced his One Percent Spending Reduction Act of 2014 in June. The bill would cut 1 percent from total federal spending over each of three years.

Enzi says the plan would balance the budget by 2017 and over 10 years would cut spending by some $7.6 trillion compared to current projections.

Enzi campaign spokeswoman Kristin Walker said Monday Enzi wants Wyoming residents to go to the website www.pennyplansolution.com and sign up to support the measure.

She says people who sign up will get updates on the bill’s progress.
