CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - The emergency department of a Cedar Rapids hospital has temporarily closed because of flooding.
KWWL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1r5HiWJ ) officials closed Mercy Medical Center’s emergency department because of rain water entering the building through an emergency entrance.
The department’s patients have been discharged or admitted to other departments in the hospital.
Patients needing immediate care were being diverted Monday morning to St. Luke’s Hospital while Mercy staff cleans up.
The flooding comes after 3 inches of rain drenched parts of eastern Iowa Sunday night and Monday morning.
