MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - A Camden man has admitted that he fatally shot a cab driver during a botched robbery last summer.

Burlington County prosecutors say 23-year-old Carey Coleman Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated manslaughter in the slaying of 47-year-old Larry Hamilton. Coleman faces a 22-year state prison term when he’s sentenced Aug. 22.

Surveillance cameras at the Trenton train station showed Coleman getting into Hamilton’s cab around 1 a.m. on June 16. A short time later, authorities learned the cab had crashed into a utility pole in Burlington City.

Hamilton’s body was found inside the cab, but Coleman had fled the scene. An autopsy determined he died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Coleman was arrested two weeks later at a relative’s house in Woodbury.
