NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The pastor of a Newark church that is next-door to a home where a family of six died in a fire earlier this month says his church has been robbed.

The Rev. James Johnson, who runs Tree of Life Ministries, says he showed up for services Sunday to find someone had entered the church by removing a window air conditioner. Johnson says the church’s sound system and other items were stolen.

The church is attached to the home once owned by church member Solome Stewart and her husband, Reginald. The couple died in a June 15 fire that also killed two of Solome Stewart’s daughters and two grandsons.

Johnson says the theft likely took place Saturday, when he was at another church conducting a eulogy for the Stewarts.
