DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Officials are monitoring severe weather in central Iowa that’s capable of producing tornadoes.

The National Weather Service says a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near the community of Indianola. Similar systems were reported earlier in Earlham and Roland. The system moving near Indianola was traveling east at 50 mph.

Officials say there have been reports of golf ball-size hail and wind gusts of up to 70 mph. There are no reports of injuries.
