BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott is praising Florida law enforcement officials for keeping crime at a historic low.

In a brief speech at the Florida Police Chiefs Association conference in Boca Raton, Scott told those gathered “I brag about you” and said the state’s low crime was among the factors that help him lure jobs to the state.

Asked about gay marriage in questioning from reporters afterward, Scott refused to support an overturn to the state’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. He says “people have differing views” and “what’s important to me is that we don’t discriminate against anybody.”
