INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say two men were badly wounded as they fired more than 20 shots at each other at an Indianapolis convenience store, also injuring a woman who tried to break up the fight.

Police say the two men began arguing after they bumped into each other while walking into the Thornton’s station about 1 a.m. Wednesday on the city’s northwest side. Both men pulled out guns and began to shoot.

Police say both were taken to a hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and legs. The woman is a girlfriend of one of the men and was shot in the hand.

Lawrence deputy police chief Curtis Bigsbee tells reporters it is disturbing that the fight turned so violent and that a bystander was wounded.
