Death near Mo. cemetery investigated as homicide

PECULIAR, Mo. (AP) - The death of a person whose body was discovered near a western Missouri cemetery is being investigated as a homicide.

The Cass County sheriff’s office says a caller notified authorities about the body Wednesday afternoon. Deputies found the remains near Wills Cemetery in rural Peculiar, about 30 miles south of Kansas City.

Authorities haven’t released any information about the victim or the cause of death, but they do believe the death to be suspicious. A special team of investigators will begin working on the case Thursday.
