WAPELLO, Iowa (AP) - Louisa County officials have discussed the possibility of selling the building that housed the former jail and law enforcement center.

Supervisors on Tuesday indicated they would be interested in contacting a real estate agent to list the property located in Wapello. No formal decision was made.

The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1hzRZxU ) the Wapello Police Department currently rents a part of the building. The lease expires on July 1.

The building housed the former county jail and law enforcement center for nearly 80 years. County officials tried to negotiate a sale of the building to the city last year, but talks stalled.
