PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gov. Lincoln Chafee has declared the last Sunday in July as the state’s annual Bay Day.

That means entrance to state beaches will be free.

Chafee signed an executive order on Wednesday waiving entrance fees on July 27. He says Bay Day gives Rhode Islanders a great opportunity to spend time at some of the state’s world-renowned beaches for free.

The annual tradition also will include special events at many beaches.
