WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) - A Utah man has been jailed in northeast Nevada and placed on an immigration hold after his arrest at a casino for allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend.

Police say 23-year-old Carlos A. Trejo-Cruz of West Valley City, Utah was arrested Sunday morning at a casino in West Wendover for suspicion of domestic battery by strangulation.

West Wendover police say the woman received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Trejo-Cruz’s bail was set at $15,000. But the Elko Daily Free Press reports (https://tinyurl.com/ozm677u) the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service has put a hold on him while they investigate his legal status.
