MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority are hosting a fundraiser this Saturday in Murfreesboro to raise money to help students attend college.

The Daily News Journal (https://on.dnj.com/1x8Oxia) reports that it’s the 14th fundraiser by the Pi Nu Omega chapter.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Patterson Park Community Center. Admission is free, but there is a cost of $10 to eat from the different themed food stations, which will serve samples of homemade soul food, appetizers, desserts, salads and casseroles.

Member Phyllis Washington said people come from all over the state to attend the event.

The sorority will use the money raised to fund 10 scholarships that will be awarded to local high school seniors. It has awarded more than $70,000 in scholarships over the past 14 years.
