JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville couple has pleaded guilty in the hit-and-run death of a little girl.

The Florida Times-Union (https://goo.gl/kOlZs4 ) reports that 35-year-old Serdarus Miguel Scott pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving while license suspended as a habitual felony offender, and 29-year-old Ariel Alexis Siplin pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence. Scott faces 35 years in prison, while Siplin faces up to 20 years, at their July 14 sentencing.

Authorities say 2-year-old Janya Diane Solomon was following her older sister across an apartment parking in June 2013 when Scott hit her. Scott got out of his vehicle, told Siplin to drive away and then fled on foot.

The couple was captured several days later.

Records show Scott had at least 30 traffic stops before Janya’s death.
