ELOY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a woman from Mexico was arrested outside Eloy after an officer noticed nearly $70,000 in drug money in her car during a traffic stop.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Maribel Toscano appeared nervous during Monday’s stop and told the deputy that she was returning to Mexico after shopping all day in Phoenix.

Investigators say the woman acknowledged that she was transporting drug money after the deputy noticed two large bundles of cash in her purse and additional cash bundles elsewhere in her car.

She was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
