HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Gov. Tom Corbett’s hitting the Pennsylvania fundraising circuit with fellow Republican and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The Republican Governors Association said Corbett and Christie will headline fundraisers Friday in Pittsburgh and Monday in Philadelphia. A spokesman for the Washington, D.C.-based RGA did not provide more details.

Christie is the chairman of the organization. Corbett is running for a second term as governor and his campaign is leaning heavily on the group’s financial assistance.

Corbett faces Democrat Tom Wolf in the Nov. 4 election. Early polling in the race shows Corbett far behind Wolf, the wealthy York County businessman who is spending at least $10 million of his own money to help him in his first effort to win public office.

In his 2010 race, Corbett’s biggest contributor was the Republican Governors Association, giving $6 million. It again is his biggest contributor, already giving him $1.8 million for his re-election campaign. In a campaign finance filing last month, the organization reported having $8.6 million to spend in Pennsylvania.
