GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The preliminary hearing for the Long Beach police officer accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old while on duty has been rescheduled after the judge recused herself.

Harrison County prosecuting attorney Herman Cox tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1oerluS ) Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner removed herself from the case Wednesday because she officiated at the wedding of the officer, Patrick Klis and his wife. Cox said Ladner is also friends with Klis’ wife.

The hearing has been rescheduled for June 11.

Klis had been a Long Beach patrol officer with the rank of sergeant about 6½ years before he was fired in early April.

He is facing three counts of sexual battery and is being held in lieu of a $300,000 bond set by Circuit Judge John Gargiulo.
